He's making an attempt to get back into your life, and you're shutting him out?
While I don't pretend to know your situation, it certainly sounds like your mother has "poisoned the well."
If he's making the attempt, you should at least give him an opportunity to try. If you prevent him from trying, you can blame yourself for him not being around now.
