My dad had a heart attack today (Good Update) :)

Just got back from the hospital. He had open heart surgery. He had a mechanical valve put on his heart.

I'm still kinda in shock and denial. 🙁

So sorry to hear that kantonburg. 🙁 But I'm guessing the surgery was a success? Best wishes to your father & your family.

I am so sorry. Stuff like this really shakes you up and makes you realize the important things. No one is ever prepared for such things.

I wish you and your family the best.

Sorry to hear about this
Hopefully he'll be all right after the surgery, my best wishes go out to your Dad and your family

I feel for you and hope your dad is better soon.

My dad had a triple by-pass because of an impending heart attack last year, one week after I had my son. It was terrifying to say the least.

He'll need a lot of support and encouragement! It takes time to heal, and there will need to be some lifestyle changes.

Best Wishes~

Terrible news. On the plus side of things, they are far better at repairing than at any time in history. Please keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope he'll fully recover. Hope you and your mom are doing okay, too.

Hang in there.

Oh that's terrible Kantonburg. 🙁 But at least they caught it in time and were able to do something. I wish you all the best.

Best wishes, kantonburg! Russ is right - they're pretty good at cardiac stuff these days. Strong support from you is what he needs now.

Any reason for it? Smoking, bad diet, etc?

Sometimes it's quite unfortunate, but if it happens early enough it can help someone correct what they're doing wrong in their lives and live a lot longer.

My grandpa had a heart attack about 15 years or so ago. Quit smoking on the spot and changed the way he did things. He's still around at age 78 or so, so good thing he had it then instead of now, or he probably wouldn't be here.

kantonburg, I'm very sorry to hear about your father. I wish him a complete and speedy recovery! 🙂

I'll pray for your dad, you and all your family. Best wishes of prompt recovery.
