He has always wanted one, but could never really afford one. Plus, he has always had so many other toys he couldn't fit anything else in the barn. He finally decided to sell his '30 Model A and use that money towards a decent down payment on a C5. He wanted one with low miles and a 6-speed, and finally found one local a couple weeks ago. Bought it last weekend.

1999 Torch Red FRC Corvette
18,318 miles
LS1 w/6-speed

The thing is bone stock, and soooo clean. I got to ride in it today, and I'm not sure if it is faster than my Trans Am, but it is definitely a smooth ride and my dad loves it. Guess he is finally considered an old man.

Don't have any pictures myself, but here is a link to the online ad: http://turnerautomotive.com/1999_red_hardtop.htm

Great choice. The base vette could really use a more aggressive final drive to wake it up. If he wants more speed without affecting reliability, that's it.

Very clean!

Any reason why he went with the fixed roof coupe over the hatchback?

Cool car, and super low miles! Bonus with a Vette is that if well kept or even decently kept, it'll still be worth a decent chunk of change in 10, 20 years.

definitely. In its current state it shouldnt depreciate much more. Nice find!
