So my custom PC froze a few hours ago and now it won't reboot.

When I turn it on, the fans start spinning, I hear some noises, the LEDs on the mobo light up, and the disc drive works, but my monitor gets no signal and there are no signs of activity beyond what I've described.

What do I do? I've had something like this happen before, but I don't remember how I got it to work again. Nothing I have tried thus far as worked.

Specs are as follows:

- MOBO = M489GTD PRO
- CPU = AMD PHENOM II X4 955 BE
- GPU = HIS ATI RADEON HD 6850
- PSU = SEASONIC S12 II 620BRONZE
- RAM = 4GB DDR3-1600 G.SKILL RIPJAW

I have tried different monitors, I've tried switching to the onboard graphics. I've tried using one stick of RAM and I went through and pulled every plug and wire and went through the book that came with my mobo and replugged them all in where it said.

There standby power LED comes on when I plug the PSU in, when I hit the power button, there is some noise like it is going to start up, but then just that LED stays on. The disc-tray works and the HDD vibrate and it seems like it should work, but the monitor gets no signal whatsoever.

If the PSU isn't failing, as jojiboy suggests, something could be shorting the PSU.

You already reseated the graphics card. When you tested it with one stick of RAM, did you reseat that stick? Did you test it with the other stick or even a completely different stick?

If that isn't the problem, try removing the screws holding the motherboard, elevating is slightly with a sheet of paper or plastic and trying to start it. While you're there, check to make sure no loose piece of metal (nut, washer, etc.) fell under the board, and blow it out with an air can.

If it starts like that, you can power down before Windows starts, and you'll have your answer. Carefully reset the motherboard in place, reinstall one or two screws and test it. Continue, one or two screws at a time, until all screws are replaced and the machine continues to start up correctly.

Good luck. :)
