My Crucial Ballistix Tracer and non-Tracer DDR4000 died again

Last week my work pair died and just today my other pair at home died.

This has happened on more than one occassion. I do not believe this is just a coincidence.

I sent both sticks in the last time at the same time and got them back consecutively. This is such a bummer.

I just went out and bought the regular PC3200 Crucial memory and am going to stick with that since I don't overclock or do anything special.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with the two sets of 2GB that I will get back. I don't want to sell them but at the same time I don't want to use them.

I'm tired of it failing every few months.

Those Crucial B modules don't last very long. It's a design flaw. You can put a fan above the RAM to reduce working temperature.

I had a 120mm fan blowing 2750RPMs directly on them. The ram is not even warm when the computer has been on for days on end. I know it isn't heat related. There is just a really bad F up with the design. They are built to last a few months and then just quit suddenly. I have given up on the DDR1 memory (Ballistix).

Eh, this is the first I've heard this. How widespread is it?

It's very widespread. If you search for my user name you'll see that I posted a similar thread back in June of 07. I've RMAed these two sets over 3 times now. If you have a set that has been running without any problems for over I would say 6-12 months, consider yourself very lucky.

Crucial took these sticks off their site for a time being. They stopped selling them due to the high volume of problems they were having.

For some reason or another, perhaps they figured the demand and RMAs outweighed them taking it offline.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I'm kind of surprised that both Crucial and OCZ seem to have gone down the tubes recently, as far as quality control (as least from reading the posts here). If I wasn't such a cheapskate, Crucial would have been at the top of my shopping list.

Ah wait a second, I just re-read the OP's post. Is this problem only with the DDR Ballistix modules or DDR2 too?

I'm on my 3rd set of ballistix DDR2 modules, but that is also figuring in a 680i board.

ditto that with me. Is it because they run @2.2v???

I ran the first 2 at 2.1, the current I kept at auto. Had no problem booting up after first install or since, so hoping that the more recent bios revs had made it keep ram better.
