If you have a credit score >800 and can't get the best rates then you need to deal with someone else for your credit.

You sure about this?
One of the few things negatively affecting my credit(according to Alliant) is because I don't own a home.

It's not necessarily affecting it negatively, they are saying the score really isn't accurate since you have no real property as part of it.

Pretty much everyone starts with insanely high credit scores. However; without large and long tradelines on your report most institutions will ignore the score and look at the individual. Mortgage companies are big on this especially if you haven't even rented. They are unlikely to extend someone a $3000/month mortgage if they never had a house/rent payment.

These days its tougher to land a JAG appointment than it is to snag a Big Law($160k+) job. Selection rates are ridiculously low and certain branches sometimes have boards were they don't select anyone.

Yup, since I've been in the Army the past 4 years I've seen us go from a flood of new JAG officers to a trickle. The standards for being picked up have skyrocketed, as they have with Officer Candidate School. The economy is mostly to blame, along with law schools churning out way too many lawyers.

Unless you are old I do not believe you are telling the truth.

I look at 25-30 credit reports per day, and the only time I have seen that high of a score is with someone who is senior.

Once you are in the 760+ range, the only thing that can help you is length of time your tradelines have been open.

Mine is 812 and im 29. Never missed a payment, never been late with a payment and have had a credit card since i was 15 and got my first job.

by not being a slave to debt thats how.

having a high CREDIT score should not be a badge of honor like so many on here believe. having a high CREDIT score means you love debt, a high score should be a badge of shame not an accolade.. jesus christ its not rocket science.

I Like your Murray Quote BTW, but I have a high credit score (821) with NO debt and pay off CCs every month, and I presume you are not a rocket surgeon or scientist, either.

everything over 800 (or even 760) is treated equally. you'd be as happy with score 800 or 801 because it is still in 800s yet takes less time to get there. I suspect either 10 or 15 yrs of credit history is needed to get into 800s

The sad thing is that once you have a credit score in the 800's, it takes just one late payment or settlement to make it drop over 100 points.

But, really, anything over a 750 is treated the same way.
