My cover of "Santeria" by Sublime

This isn't really my style of choice, I mostly prefer death metal or classical. But for some reason Sublime has always intrigued me. It's too sad that the singer/guitarist/song writer died of a heroin overdose. He is by far one of my favorite vocalists.

An old friend of mine who I havn't seen in years got stuck at an airport near me and gave us a few hours to throw this together. He had no prior practice at singing the song but it came together quite well.

Bass-guitar and drums are in midi played through my roland jv-1010 midi synth. I played guitar and my friend did vocals.

Thanks for checking it out if you do.

...i always want to hear death metal covers of emo songs haha.

That's really good, but the hi-hat ruins it for me...can't stop focusing on it- esp. during the guitar solo

Haha, thanks guys.

Yeah, when we finished the vocals we had like 15 minutes to mix, burn to cd, and get him back to the airport.(it's an hour and a half drive) I wish I could have touched it up a bit.
Yeah, the hi-hat on my synth always sounds bad. That thing has over 200 hundred drum kits but I only know how to use the generic kit. (I've had this thing for years.. can't figure it out) I usually spend a couple hours manually adjusting every hi-hat hit in my recordings.. just couldn't do it this time.

Thanks for the feedback. This was a rushed project on a limited time-span. I still can't believe how well Allan was able to pull off those vocals with no practice.

I know this song well. 8/10. -2 for vocals, the original has like epic range of vocals smooth and stuff. I paused my slayer to listen, lol.
