you know, you're probably right here. i have no doubt that iriver could release a just as good if not superior product for much cheaper, and it this sort of thing really has happened to apple before.

AND, if they do get burned again, it could REALLY hurt since their music store is just a loss leader for ipods

ya i have an archos jukebox multimedia 20gig. it is good because the price and features can't be beat, but I would like and ipod still. I might buy a gen 1 on ebay. I really like the mechanical scroll wheel and since they are older they are cheaper.

For all the people looking to get the ipod mini - you should get the muvo2. Same storage space, but smaller size and cheaper price. Plus it doesn't skip as much since it uses hitachi's micro drive.

IMHO: apple is way to overpriced.
