I have a dilemma

Need Laptop for school and was really considering the IBM Lenovo Z60t or Z60m; but I feel nuts at paying that such high price for $899 to $1099 for just a Celeron 1.4 processor with 256 RAM. Obviously the price is so high because of IBM?s durability etc etc. There is also the issue, that I can?t find the product locally and buying from IBM it states that it will take about 2 weeks to ship?can?t wait that long.

Maybe for that price, I should consider something else that provides me with more features or maybe I should just buy something cheap like what Buy.com has on sale right now an Acer Aspire 3003LCI with AMD Sempron 3000+ Processor with free shipping could maybe get it by tomorrow.

I don?t know what to do? What do you guys think? I almost bought last week the Gateway on special at Bestbuy for $550 but when I looked online for reviews found none so I got scared.

Oh.. HP and Compaq computers I won't consider.

Have you considered an R51e w/ a PM? I think you can get one of those for 8 or 9 hundred. For the price and considering its reputation as a ultra-durable work-horse it's pretty hard to beat.

Would anyone think that the IBM Thinkpad Z60m is not a good laptop take to school? I would need to carry it at least 4 times a week.

Too large then. Get the Z60t instead. Or, why not get one of the non-e's in the R series?

LOL that was quick I didn't even get time to pot you a tip. I remember it taking me 1 month of serious consideration in between the R series and the T-series untill I said I would like to save the $ 500 difference and get an R series and no regrets till now (some deep desire for some composite here and there nothing big :D )

As was mentioned above you could have got a non-e R series and it would come with a touchpad and what not and would have served you good, or maybe a T42-3 would have done the trick for a nice price, but since your budget is $ 800 I say you got a perfect fit, mine costed me $ 850 when I got it.
So congrats, and make sure you post about your experience when you get it , make a mini-review or something
