1.4TB is not the close to TB that I had, but it'll make a great DV/HD/PVR box...

extras: pvr250, 24Gb DAT drive for backups, upgrading to gigE when I get some $$$*

yeah...Saturdays when you're broke suck:p

Nice! One of these days I'm going to build a fileserver for my HD movies (~1.4TB plus a TON of stuff I haven't cataloged yet). But unfortunately the piece of sh*t Asus A8N-SLI board in my HTPC failed last weekend, so I can't even watch movies until that's fixed. :|

I will admit, 241MB of it is glamor shots I found on here, or rather, an offline version of a site that I found here, but that's it. most of them aren't even nude.

Eye candy, but not porn.

I'm finally up to 700GB (400GB Seagate + 300GB Maxtor) on my box and 320GB (160GB Seagate + 200GB Maxtor) on the wifey's box...
All we have on them is JPOP and Japanese TV Shows (drama and variety)... :)

Feels good to get it all in one place doesn't it? I am still working on getting all my archival cd's into mine. I am using 2 2220 8 way sata2 raid cards from highpoint with a bunch of 250gb drives in mine.

this is a fileserver/encoder:D

my actual server is running linux; my firewall is running freebsd:D

I won't profess to being leet at all:p I was going to setup a really small gentoo thing, but this is the deal:

I have over a terabyte of data spread across multiple disks, and it is all in XFS. I was going to go ahead and move it all to XFS, but just the transfers alone would take a few days. I got about 25% into converting it all to XFS and gave up...too long.

In addition, I didn't want to go through the trouble of setting up myth when I already own beyondTV. Now I will jsut have one computer with [most of[ my media on it:)

Linux would have made for a more robust option, but frankly, it would have been a waste of time since I can do this much quicker and firewall the hell out of it just in case;)

On a different topic, what would you suggest for a reasonable PCI SATA2 hardware raid card for a budget linux server? We are talking 2 channels only, raid 1.
