My computer won't turn on after it has been shut down until I unplug and replug? Why?

My computer won't turn on after being shut off until I unplug cord and plug back in! I know there are many things it could be but I will explain a little of the situation. It started about a little while ago when I came to turn the computer on. It would not start. I unplugged the computer and pressed the power button and it started. I have been doing some experimenting and found this out.
On the mobod there are three little blue lights. When I push the power button one of the blue lights will come on and not the other two and it won't start. I then unplug the cord and the blue light goes out after about 5 seconds. I plug it back in and push power and it starts. It runs fine when on.
It is and Epox mobod with an antec case and a 350watt smart psu.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
 
I just recently had a psu that was doing something somewhat similar.

When the computer was put in shutdown the cpu, video card, case fans and psu fans kept running! The only way to fully shut the computer down was to flip the psu switch. The psu wasn't shutting itself down correctly. I think your psu may be doing something similar.



 
I have no problem with shut down as it does shut down, it is the power on that I have problems with. I do think we may be talking psu though.

OP,
When the PSU is unplugged for awhile it will reset itself, then it will power-up the system.
Get rid of that 350 SmartPower now! It just might kill a HDD on it's way out.
If it's less than 3 years old, RMA it and have a spare PSU, for whatever but not for a PC.
If it's over 3 years old, open it up and find leaking/bulging Fuhjyyu capacitors 🙂

I had a similar issue with an old Athlon XP/Asus Via KT333 system which was eventually fixed with a BIOS update & I never did figure out exactly what the problem was, however the 400 watt Antec psu that was in that rig still works fine to this day in my younger daughters PC so that wasn't it.

I have had my share of problems with newer Antec psu's though & no longer use them myself, especially the Neo seris of which 3 out of 5 units purchased have failed on me.
