i turned on my computer one day and 5 min later, it just shuts off. i hit the power button and theres no response. i checked all the plugs and everything. i even let it sit for a while then tried turning it on but i still get nothing.

any help?

PSU sounds right... How old is the PC? Do you have any similar PCs that you can try to switch the power supply with for a test?

If you are getting absolutely nothing, I would suspect power supply as well.

If the fans in the PSU and the hard drive(s) spin up, the problem is more likely elsewhere.

I bought my computer through Cyberpowerinc.com August 03, so it hasn't been too long. All my previous computers are too old and are out of reach since I'm dorming in college. I also think its weird that the red led standby light on the motherboard is on when its plugged in. I emailed Cyberpowerinc so hopefully my warranty covers this problem. If not, I might have to buy a new PSU.

Does this sort of thing just happen? or is there a way to prevent this so it wont happen again? Not having my computer operational sucks a lot.
