Hello all!

I recently upgraded from a Duron 750 to a T-Bird 1400 on my Epox 8KTA3 and now my system will not restart properly. When i restart in from windows or from the restart button, my computer will not come out of the restart, it will only sit with a blank screen. I have a 350watt power supply, and an SK6 HSF that keeps my chip at 55C so its not a matter or power or overheating. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Heh I have the same problem on my Athlon/K7T Turbo... for some
reason it just hangs after I choose restart BUT if I choose restart
and I keep moving the mouse cursor while the computer is
shutting down, it continues the process like normal... $#@% aggravating.

hmm....if you have not done so already, check all your wiring. maybe a bios flash? i really don't know for sure, but just a couple possible easy solutions. good luck man.

Bios flash sounds like a good idea, I'll try that one tommorow.

*UPDATE*

I flashed the bios, everything is up and running but the flash failed in 3 spots. This leads me to believe that the bios chip may be bad. Should I spend the 20 bucks and have badflash make me a new one or is there another solution? Thanks.

can ur pc even boot? if the bios ship itself is bad, maybe u can get some RMA service from epox.

The computer boots fine, it just won't restart properly. I'll try the bios flash again to see if those sections fail to write again. I'd rather avoid RMA'ing this mobo, then I'd be out a computer for a week or two. If the situation doesn't get worse, I'll just live with it.

i'm not sure about the epox boards, but i know with fic board, they have difference pcb revisions, and sometimes it makes a difference what pcb u have. make sure u have exactly the right flash for ur board. i got errors while trying to flash with wrong bios before.
