My Computer takes forever to load

any thoughts? I'm running 2 hard drives (raptor in a raid1 and a 250 GB sata drive), 2 cd drives (dvd burner and dvd rom), and a floppy.

if I go straight to the drive (ie: run -> d:\ ), there's no time delay. but when I double click on my computer, it takes a good minute to load up (system is responsive, though, and I can work in other windows while it's loading).

specs:
1 gig of ram
Barton 2500+
 
Are there CDs or DVD in the drive when you do this? Have you tried it without CDs or DVDs in there? When you double click My Computer if your optical drives are not spinning or haven't cached the dis information, they must spin up and read the disc in there before My Computer opens. This is probably your delay. Are you sure it's almost 1 minute? That sounds excessively long.

When you go to run> d:\ it bypasses the optical drives at this time too.
