My Computer Randomly Restarts

My computer will restart randomly. I'm pretty sure that it is from power surges. I have it plugged into a surge protector, but I live in a very old house and every once in a while things will flicker and the computer will restart. Is there any way that I can be sure of this, or does anyone think it could be something else. The computer keeps cool enough, and there are no problems recorded in the Event Viewer. I am running Win XP on a 2.5 GHz Intel processor if that helps.

If the lights flicker and then the Computer restarts you prolly are correct and if you want to make sure take the Puter to a friends house and try it there...Solution would be to aquire a UPS back-up device and/or call an Electrician

I think the UPS Back-up is going to be the way to go. I rent out this old house, and the power is shaky all the time. It sucks but I only got about six more months there, so in the mean time. Batteries! Woohoo!
