My computer randomly burnt down!

Sorry to post this in so many places, but it relates several parts of my computer.

I was using my computer as normal just surfing the internet . . .then my computer suddenly makes this clicking noise and resets. I think odd . . .and it tries to reload windows but fails. So after much troubleshooting- I decide to open it up, and I can smell this burnt odor coming from it. I look around, and I notice that the ATX power connection between the motherboard and power supply had totally burned up! Who's fault is this?! The power supply? The motherboard? The surge protector? The power supply and motherboard are pretty useless now I think. I have quality parts, an Antec PP303X PS, MSI K7T Turbo Mobo, and a Belkin UPS. I seriously need to claim some warranties here.

Should I try claiming Belkin's warranty for power failure? Or should I just get one from Antec for the PS? Would MSI give me one too?

Help me out!!

Listen, I'm no expert. But my brother had a similar prob. His PS fried up big time.

Check to see if the PS is fried as well (open it up or just give it a sniff ;D)
My guess (if you weren't online during an electrical storm) is that it's the PS's fault.

Good luck

sounds like your ps burned out and took your mb with it I had that happen before. Your ups can't help you with that your ps hooks into your mb not your ups I did have a bad ps burn up a ups before however.

Carpe Deo, how long have you've been running your computer? Was it running 24/7?

I had several CompUSA power supply that burned in approximately 1 year of running 24/7. One made my BP6's capacitors to explode as well. Others, burn the voltage regulators and chokes of Epox KP6B6 - (all are CompUSA 300 watts). One 250 watts CompUSA power supply recently burned but did not destroy any other part.

I have several Antec PP303X so knowing more details from your experience is highly appreciated🙂
