My computer often freezes. Please help!

Hi,
When I play an fps my system sometimes freezes. The whole thing locks up and the screen freezes on the last frame and just holds it. Sound replays the last half second of sound or whatever a few times then cuts off. Nothing responds so I have to reset manually.

Usually happens at an intense moment of battle. Also happens with Lineage 2 but not as often. An even rarer with just opening and closing stuff rapidly.

AMD x2 2ghz, 3gb ram

Any ideas appreciated.

Check the settings for your RAM - voltage, timings and frequency.

Set all that manually in BIOS, based on the RAM specifications.

Edit: It can also be caused by an overloaded PSU.

And overheating, especially your graphics card - which is more than possible as it seems to happen when there is a lot on screen
