My computer no longer shows and my system freezes up.

Your computer freezes up at which point?

I have never been in favor of repairing a windows installation. It creates software conflicts where registry enteries become missing or corrupted. I would suggest a temporary repair, backup of important data and then a completely clean installation of the OS again.
