I don't know why this happens...
my computer justs shuts off on its own... its a ATX motherboard... 300 watt power supply... I have a lot of stuff inside CD
ROM, floppy, 3 HD's I am wondering if thats the reason why... I replaced the power supply and the new one is doing the
same thing... is the new one bad as well or is there just too much stuff inside for the power supply to handle... any
ideas would be great

Does it go through a shutodown routine (Programs shutdown and unloads)? or does the power just cutout without warning?

Could it be a bad/loose plug on the motherboard? What processor? If its an Athlon, are you using an AMD approved power supply?

you're gonna just have to start with the basics... (cpu, ram video card, boot drive) and work your way up through process of elimination. I'm also willing to bet it may be your mobo causing the problem. PSU is my first thought but getting two bad ones in a row would be pretty damn rare.

IF the motherboard was touching the case, it would be toast. ;)

Is it possible you are overclocking? Running your FSB at very high speeds without adding some more voltage can cause this. Also, an underpower processor will do the same thing. Check your voltages if possible. If this isn't the problems, then I don't know what to tell you.

it wouldnt necessarily be toast. When I first installed my BX6-R2 board, it sometimes shorted out by touching the case (when I was pushing on the IDE connectors to make sure they were in place). Its fine to this day...
