My computer keeps freezing while i play far cry. While i play, the computer stops respoding except for the sound that was playing when it froze. The sound just keeps repeating very quickly like the sound of a machine gun firing, but quicker. i turned off agp fastwrites but that did not solve the problem. I looked at the task manger to see the performance and my cpu spike often. Also, far cry is running at 50-120 fps, nothing lower than that.

Amd 64 3200, evga 6800, aopen ak89 max, 512mb, 80gb, windows 2000. My gpu is running at 56 C not running anything and 59 C after playing couple hours of Far cry.

I had a similar problem. I used driver cleaner and installed the 66.93's. No problems now. I was using Forceware 70.90 or similar when I had the problem.

I had a similar problem too, i got a girlfriend and stopped playing on the computer....

j/k

do you have a sound blaster audigy? If so move it to a different PCI slot and see if it helps

It definetly not a sound problem.
I already have 69.93 drivers but that didnt change anything.
This is exactly what happens-
I play far cry for like 5-15 mins and then i shoot a gun and the sound of the gun keeps repeating and the computer completely freezes.
I have not overclocked anything at all and all temps are stable.

Had very similar problems with an EVGA 6800 ultra. I tried everything including drivers, bios settings, moving pci cards bla, bla, bla.....

I ended up flashing the bios to the latest version and havn't a problem since. Make sure your card is registered with EVGA and give them a call. The guy gave me a link to the new bios.

My old bios was something like 5.40.02.10.13
The new bios is 5.40.02.15.07

See if yours is similar to mine, not sure if it will be due to different cards.

Anyways, it's worth a shot.
