My computer keeps crashing

Perhaps you guys can help.

Last night it kept getting all unstable and stuff. It would work fine for a while and then I would play a game for a while on the highest graphical settings and it would lock up. I have no clue what is wrong wigh it.

Oh, and it was 95 degrees in my apartment. :Q

😛

I have a non-overclocked Intel 2.4B with stock cooling. It couldn't take the heat. What do you think, time to break down and buy a window air conditioner? I can live with the heat, but I can't live without my computer!!

pack ice around it during the day

Now there's an idea I didn't think of. I'll convert my extra front slots into "ice chutes" and install a drain in the bottom of the case. Every time the computer gets hot I will pour a bag of ice in to the "ice chute" to cool it off.

Do you think it will work?

lol... now that's ghetto. 😛

It's a joke son. RE-fvcking-lax, 'k.
d'oh! I've been skoorbed! 🙂 Just been so many annoying newbies posting on topic in OT that I have a bit of a hair trigger with my flamethrower.

Draping a wet towel over the case will help tremendously. We used to do that in the Army when the radios would overheat. You don't need it sopping wet, just a little more than damp. Of course, Army radios are waterproof, and your computer isn't.

Maybe you can come up with something similar to this.

In all seriousness, 95F ambient temps shouldn't cause your computer to crash. It's already running too hot if it does.

check for dust. if you heat sink gets cloged itll make teh CPU over heat.. if you can get your hands on some dry ice just lat that sit infron of a fan intake all day it works

You seem to be right.

It is 90 in here right now and the CPU is only ay 49.0C. Perhaps I should look in to it a bit more before buying an air conditioner. 😱

His system can't adequately cool itself is all, if it were a super fan system it probably wouldn't be too bad but the ambient heat PLUS the heat generated by the CPU istelf is too much for the system to handle.

That's an interestng idea with the damp towel, because evaportation is a cooling process drawing energy away from the surface the water is evaporating from, however considering the airmass inside the case it probably wouldn't be able to lower the temps enough, especially if he's struggling with bad circulation anyway.

(who says we don't know nothing in OT?)
