Assuming the current board is kaput, and assuming you get even another, I would run a 1000KV UPS in the system to make sure its not your wall power - dips and spikes.

Edit:
And I dont know how it is in your city, but here we can call the power company to do a line check that lasts for a few days and graphs actual voltages.

Very possible, But i have had the Mac mini and my Athlon XP board plugged in through the surge and have no problems..

I talked to newegg and they are going to replace the board.. HOpefully my CPU didn't go with it.

If you find the CPU does work and its the mobo may i suggest you dont get MSI again?

M= my
S= system
I= incinerated.

I'm going to give it one more try.,. I like the board, just been having some bad luck..

Got my new board..

🙂

CPU is still alive and kicking @ 2.65! 🙂

I do have a problem now.. I cannot get my x850xt stable @ stock speeds.. Getting lockups in UT2k4 within 10 minutes..

Though I solved it, because I forgot to turn off Fast writes - Did that, no go; Then i forgot about on board audio - No go..

What could it be ?

Is it possible the videocard took some damage during the MOBO failure?!?!

UP!!! for some help!

I believe you have to set it to 67 to ensure it locks on that mobo?

Yep. Set @ 67

Fast writes disabled

Onboard audio disabled

Primary graphics adapter - AGP

🙁

Cripes! You got that RMA fast! Two days and you got it? I live right next to the New Egg wharehouse (La Puente, CA) and it still took me 4 days. Kudos to Newegg for their excellent customer service. :beer:

this brings up the question of just how many times will newegg RMA ship a new board to someone - endlessly???
also - can MSI QC be that bad - really??
If so, they have major probs, 5 boards to get a good one!!!

I knew that MSI board was buggy, but now that i am getting it in a few days, i am starting to get worried.

Bah.. Don't worry.. there are plenty of users with no issues..

Im pissed my x850xt is running properly now, i'll have to swap it out for the same thing I guess..

Not even stable @ stock speeds. Definitely took some "splash" damage or something!
