:Q :Q :Q

WTF.

I was browsing the forums and my PC just shut down out of nowhere. I reset the CMOS, pulled the AC power, switched the PSU off and then on.. NOTHING.

My Power LED on the tower is on ( when the psu is on ) but I get absolutely NOTHING.

The system was rock stable, voltage was low and temps were awesome.. This happened during a extremely LOW stress task..

Did my PSU take a dive?

Antec 430w? Possible fuse blowout or something?!?!!

HELP!

It could still be the board..I dont think you could have killed the cpu unless the power supply or mobo went and took it out....

My sons system did the same thing and for some reason when I tried to boot with my 431 enermax it still wouldn't start....It ended up the cpu was dead but the power supply was the thing that took it out...The carbon copy thing I was talking about I didn't want to tell you that part...Good luck....MObo, ram, and vid card all worked still....lost the cpu and the power supply was toast. I had it tested...

WOW, this is just unreal..

This board has been rough for me!!! Going on my 3rd one.. Not even 20 days old..

I am RMA'ing.. And if it took my CPU with it, I will be thoroughly pissed!!! What about the CPU? I assume I'm stuck with a dead cpu as well?!!

I just sold my CBBID 3000+ so I can't check to see if it's the CPU!!!

What about the Power LED begin green? Board trying to tell me anything?!?!

RMA'ing a CPU that's been running about 800-1000MHz over its rated speed... uh... *cough*. ;)

bjc112, doesn't that board have a diagnostic LED doodad? Is it giving any meaningful info? You might also pull your main and ATX12V power cables and look for charring, since you're running a 20-pin PSU with a pretty burly video card and OC'ed CPU. If you're using a 24-to-20 adapter, then look where the PSU plugs into the adapter, that would be the bottleneck.

Checked the 12v and the 20pin and did not see ANY signs of charring, nor did i have the faintest smell of burning!!

DAMN IT, I hope this board did not take my CPU with it :(

Is it at all possible that it is just the PSU and the 300w Enermax can't even get it enough juice to post ( just 15a ) on the 12v line..

:(

Very disappointed right now.

How about slap in an ancient 1MB Cirrus Logic PCI video card (instead of the ATI), and unplug all of the drives from power & data cables, just to see if the 300W Enermax can get it to POST like that.

MEch.. I don't think it's the CPU unless the MOBO smoked it when it went out..

The CPU was ROCK stable, and temps were awesome..

:(

Sad, sad day..

Gotta call newegg and RMA this board AGAIN!!!

WTF!!

Replaced the x850xt with a 8500LE ( no external power required ) no go..

:(

This is looking worse and worse...

do u tihnk it could have been all the oc u did

Nope.. Voltages were low, temps were good.. And this thing was running like a CHAMP for days..

Prime 95 / SuperPI /3dmark stable..

Why would it just instantly DIE.

I wish I had that damn CBBID chip to test now...

THe intial one did work, but had some issues with HTT.. Newegg happily swapped it for me.. ( but the board did work )

I got the second one, everything worked.. HTT was better, loaded windows.. No issues..

It was about 1 week until I loaded any PCI devices in the machine and found out all the PCI ports were dead.. :p

RMA'd and am on my current board - So essentially 4!!!!!!!

This board has been wonderful ( the current one ) and I have no complaints..

I think my intial purhcase was 4/15, or 4/1 but this board is only 20 days old!!!

Well I guess I have a good news bad news situtation..

It wasn't the Antec 430..

just put that with my XP 1700+ and system posted and I shut it down..

Now it's only MOBO or CPU, but with a dead CPU, wont the system at least TRY and post?

I think I have access to a 130nm Newcastle (939) tomorrow at work, I hope for my sake that it DOESN"T post!!

So then I know it's the board and I can RMA that!

And why is the POWER LED on the tower come on when the PSU is plugged in? What does that mean?

Take the CPU out and try to fire the board up without it. If it spins fans and gives out beep codes once the CPU's out, then that tends to point toward the CPU.

And if not, dead board? Is it even worth doing? Or just wait until I can get my hands on that CPU tomorrow to try..

not to be harsh here, but wouldnt 4 bad mobo mean it was something done on your end, like a standoff touching a trace or something?

Anyway, I just had an Antec 430 go bad on me, but it was not very obvious - it kind of worked. In desperation I took the cover off (break seal - and warranty). I noticed dripped crud on the inside of cover near the big yellow 33uf rectangular power capacitor. After getting out my magifying glass, I saw that the green ceramic cap just under the plug in area had a fried hole in it from a nearby wire (arced).
Guess I'll have to call Antec to see if they'll fix it.

Possible, but unlikely.

I have used 2 Anec 430w, and a Sparkle 350w.. And just last night a Enermax 350.

The first board was functional, and Duvie and I went through a huge list of things with that board..

The second board's PCI slots were dead, plain and simple..

This board was working just fine.. Heavy gaming, priming, whatever.. But just decides to BLOW THE FVCK OUT while web surfing?!?!
