I was having issues with what I thought was my pcie video card. I took it out and hooked up to my onboard video and when the pc first powers on it stays on the black screen that shows the cpu and amount of memory. It shows 1024 but I really have two gigs. After being on that screen for 10-15 minutes it will go to the Windows login screen. Once logged in it runs a little sluggish. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate

If its only recognizing one of the two ram chips, try using only one of them? Maybe one is bad.

It sounds like your MB BIOS is trying to negotiate with a failed/failing DIMM.
Pull out one of your DIMMs and reboot, then test the other one. That should indicate which one is bad.
To make sure it isn't one of the MB memory slots that's bad, run the same test in both of them also.

Test 1. DIMM1 tested in slot 1
Test 2. DIMM2 tested in slot 2
Test 3. DIMM1 tested in slot 2
Test 4. DIMM2 tested in slot 1

You might also run Crystal Disk Info and see what it reports about the HD's condition.
