My computer is on the fritz after I started SETI

I'm doing SETI again this year and i just realized after I started the SETI client, my computer is on the fritz. I'd get random crashes and computer reboots overnight. I could just stop using SETI, but it's not normal for a computer to do what mine is doing right now.

Same setup as last year, but I didn't have this problem last year....

CPU temp: 49C, case temp 30C. AMD Ath 2400, Win XP SP2

Any idea what's going on?

Overclock? memory timings?
Seti will of course heat everything up, hows the dust inside the case?
All fans still working?

Neo did you post this in Distributed Computing? Someone there might be able to help seeing that it might be a SETI issue.

Seti keeps your CPU running right at 100% and has been used in the past (maybe even to this date) as a method to check your computer's stability. Your BSs are being caused by something in either your hardware or operating system.

Look for the usual suspects.

Your temps look to be in the acceptable range. When did you last do a fresh install of your OS?

memtest86 result

Over 50 hrs of memtest86 showed no error.
Could it still be memory?

This computer has a copper heatsink that weighs over a pound and it was recently moved. I was told its the cooling even though temp looks fine, but I suspected core damage, so I removed the heatsink for inspection and found a minor core damage. Would core damage this small affect anything?
