Woke up this morning and my computer appeared to be all frozen up. power buttons wouldn't work, no signal to monitor, but the diskdrive worked. Tried restarting, and might have, but without picture I have no idea. Turned it off (manually with PSU :() gave it a few second, tried the power button, nothing. Tried a few other things, nothing worked. Swapped graphics cards, nothing. Went to try clearing CMOS, and when I put the thing back on the pins, I touched a nearby chip of some kind on it was ungodly hot. Turned off the PSU and touched it again and it cooled down right away. Turned it back on and it went way hot again. Tried a few other chips they were all fine. The chip in question is right next to the power and reset button and i'm guessing that this might be related the power buttons not working. I'm about to try a new PSU.

there is a capacitor right above it, but it is the tiny black thing beneath it I am refering to. The arrow is missleading. It almost looks like a tiny thing of ram or something.

Still going to RMA thouguh. see if I can't get an MSI neo2

Possibly that chip is a voltage regulator. Were you overclocking, or was voltage at stock?
