My computer hates Microsoft CDs =(

I just picked up Crimson Skies at EB and eagerly came home to try it out. It refuses to autorun and even when I run the setup manually it will not work and gives me a yellow trinagle in an error box with no text. I tried copying all of the files onto my HD and that does not work either.

Well, it is not my CD. Just on a whim I put in my Motocross Madness 2 CD and I got the exact same error. So there is something about my computer not running Microsoft games CDs

I reinstalled WinME on top of itself and I still get the same problem with both games. Any ideas here?

your cd drive is dirty or dying.

Clean it & if it still does it you'll need to replace it.

Canned air should work ok.

Just give it a Blow Job.

Every other game CD I have autoruns properly. I will try the canned air though, maybe these CDs are being picky... Is it even possble for my CDRom to be dying to the point where it can read anything but a Microsoft made CD?

I am downloading the demo for CS now, if the demo kicks ass and I still can not get my CDs to work I am going to cry.

Update: The demo for CS works great and look dialed with FSAA ramped up on my GTS card. I used the air on my CDRom and still nothing. I even tried downgrading my BIOS and that did not work. I will see about trying a different CDRom next week...

I have had the identical problem with my motocross madness2 cd although all my other cd's work fine tried it on 3 different drives got the same thing. damn thing worked fine a month ago

just tried it with win 2000 and it worked fine on the same machine it is definately a windows 98 problem.

i think it is a conspicry by microsoft you make you upgrade your system

microsoft has got a support page to deal with an install issue link I think this is the fix for this problem.

Crap, I returned CS on my way to work today. I will try it when I get home with Motocross Madness 2 and if it works I will repurchase CS...
