My computer has windows ME (preinstalled) and I want 98SE

I got the 98SE CD right here infront of me ("For PC's without windows&quot And I want to install it. My questions are:

1: Can I install it over windows me without losing anything?

yeah that's pretty much it. I want to do this for Gaming reasons and also my portable mp3 player (personal jukebox) does not work with ME which is a real pain.

even if it does allow you to downgrade, i would fdisk and format first. you don't want any leftover junk that might cause your system to be unstable.

I tried the same thing you did, and 98 does NOT let you downgrade from ME. You'll have to reformat and install 98 like the previous poster mentioned. It should also give you a more stable system overall.
