My computer has lost all passwords, virus?

I just turned on the computer, and went to HyperLobby where I go every day, it was set to remember my prefs and name, and password. It looked like it was never set up. I entered the info, decided to check my e-mail, with Outlook Express, and got the enter your password to access your e-mail server, (with an previous provider, not the one I am currently using) getting supicious, I just closed it and started Internet Explorer to go online, and it had to detect proxy settings, came up with some MS startup screen like the first time start, I closed it, then started AdAware, and the settings were all blank. Ran Norton AV, it found no virus, setup AdAware and ran it, found only one doubleclick cookie (normal). This is multiple programs that are affected. I did have my first "no X or close ad window or popup ad" the last time that I had the computer on, I went to the task bar and right clicked on it and chose "close". A window popped up that said to close a window with no close "x" click here. So I clicked it. Well, this is what has me worried, did I fall for executing some exploit when I did that, (btw, I have BlackIce running all the time, ADSL) or do I just have a corrupted folder that all my preference files are in.
Edit: In looking at my computer, it kinda looks like it could of reverted to some point earlier in time. My Internet Explorer history is from some previous time, and although my favorites list is up to date, it has been alphabetised instead of recent additions at the bottom. Another thing missing, is that I had to log in here the first time I came here after this trouble started.
