My Inspiron 530 has arrived.

Important specs:

Vista - Came with reinstall disk. What do I do?

2 gigs of memory

E6420 - Do I need to anything in relation to the cpu?

8600GT - Drivers. Dell shipped a disk that reads "8300GS and 8600GT drivers." Do I need to install?

BF2 - BF2 is going to be the first game I'm installing. I already bought it from Fry's yesterday.
I've been reading about vista and its affect on battlefield. Do you guys have any suggestions?

thanks!

You can check dells webpage for the newest drivers, or check nvidias page (I dont know if nvidia releases universal mobile drivers). You shouldn't need to do anything with the cpu and there are very few reasons not to keep vista (basically unless you really hate it stick with it, its security and stability are better then xp and its performance is fairly close).

Well vista is already installed and I don't feel like buying another copy of XP...or installing it. :D

So just install the latest drivers from the nvidia website?

What about BF2?

Install NVidia drivers from www.guru3d.com, install BF2, and hope it works. If it doesn't, report back.

I'm not sure which version of Vista you have, but I'm betting it's probably Home Basic or Premium, 32-bit... in that case, go to the Videocards - NVIDIA ForceWare (32 bit) section and find the latest official drivers you can find (that are WHQL certified).
