Sounds like a burned out CPU, to me. Spontaneous reboots as you describe are often the result of overheating, and it's finally bit the bullet.

In my experience, a blank screen with nothing but the fans and drives starting up (but no drive activity) has been a sure sign of a bad CPU. A friend of mine went through 3 chips before he finally got one that worked on a PC he upgraded (he kept cracking the cores while mounting the cooler).

i second that. I recently got a cpu, took my old one out and put it in...and nothing. all drives, etc were working, but the screen wont turn on...not even post. So i put back in the old cpu, and it worked as before. turns out that the cpu was busted.

However, in my case...there was no restarting of the computer as u mentioned.

One of my friends is having a similar problem (automatic restarting) with her laptop. eh...hope its not the same case as this.

First before you go wasting $2 - 3 hundred dollars try re-installing the OS.If that doesn't work, then it probably is the CPU, get a new one, if you have a AMD system get a 3500+ from newegg or if you have a pentium system get a 3.2GHz from newegg.

You can't install Windows if the system doesn't POST.

It could be the power supply as well. I'd be surprised if it WASN'T the motherboard, power supply, or CPU.
