My Compaq Presario F500 laptop wont start. Help!!!

Until 8 PM tonight, I was using my computer. And then I got home at 9:30 and my computer simply wont turn on.

The light near where the power cord goes turns on when I plug in the power cord. But besides that, the laptop does nothing. When I push the power button, absolutely nothing happens.


I googled this problem, and the only solution I saw was to remove the battery/ac power source and hold the power button for 60-90 seconds and try to boot again. But that didnt work on my computer.

Is there anything I can do to fix my computer? I just find it wierd that the charging light works, but nothing else does.

I bought it refurbished in November 2007. They claim that it is not under warranty, and want $398 to fix it, when I bought it new for $400!

I will see what I can do to help, you may want to contact the company that is doing refurbishing for Compaq, and see what they can do.
