My company just shut down

Didn't think it would ever happen to me. My company shut down today after nearly 4 years. I have joined the ranks of the unemployed. Fortunately, we are being given a month of severance pay - not bad for a startup. So I have a month to find a new job.

We were working on a wireless router in the LMDS spectrum for metropolitan area networks. Ethernet in, wireless out. Unfortunately for us, all our potential customers went bankrupt and the investors lost faith in the product and the market. So they shut us down.

damn, that's too bad, boolerboy.
I can see the need (or use) for mobile wireless laptop computing in metro areas in the next 2-3 years.

The technology and the ideas we were developing were awsome. But the time was just not right.

We were in the fixed wireless business and were trying for the "last mile" business. I think we took too long to get to the market. That was the biggest mistake. By the time we were ready, there was no one buying. Oh well... Something I'll remember at my next startup.
