If you know of anyone that has Linux experience and is looking for a job feel free to PM and I'll provide you with an email address where you can send a resume. First off this is going to be in the academic field (located in the University of Pittsburgh campus) and the pay is not that high. Requirements are bachelors degree and preferably some experience in the medical field, but in-depth Linux experience is needed. Software that would be used is for neuroimaging and the people you would support are going to be looking at some fairly hefty brain slice image files.
Here's the run down:
Position: Systems Programmer/Analyst II (only programming might be some basic scripts etc)
Minimum salary: $16.38/hr, medium: $22.22, max: $28/hr -- my experience is that they usually start people off near the minimum so I'd guess around $17 - $18 /hr.
Position Info: Linux system administration (Redhat Enterprise), backup, restores etc for the Neuroimaging center, application support. Basically maintaing the linux workstations and perhaps a linux server.
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k match of 3%, savings plan of 3.5% (more after certain age/yrs with company) your salary after you've worked 1000 hrs, approx 22.6 days of paid time off per year & can sell 40hrs per year, 7 paid holidays, FSA plan, tuition reimbursement, surrounded by college girls (or guys -- not that theres anything wrong with that).
--------------
Again, this is in the academic area so pay is not that high (don't flame me, I don't set the salaries). But since it is in the academic field the job is going to be fairly laid back. After you've worked in this department for one year you are eligible to transfer to any other where the pay can be much higher (i.e. clinical etc). But like I said this department has a very relaxed atmosphere and is probbably the easiest most stress free tech job you'll ever find.
