hmm
maxing out could be a distinct possibility.
try upping the voltage if applicable (ie. yur not passed 1.85v yet)

also, about the hdd led thingy, i know that it's in the manual. i think it gets plugged in the same area as the reset switch and power switch. have a peek at your manual, cuz i'm sure i saw it there the other day.

darn ahhhhhhh
whyyyyyyyyyy
i think i need better cooling
someone suggested this metal plate thing that when current goes through it.. it gets ultra cold.. is that the peltier thing?
thanx for helping out guys

Yes. That´s a peltier. I don´t recommend you using it, unless you intend to spend a lot of time getting knowledge on how best to use it, and loads of time tinkering with it. I am told heatsinks generally aren´t able to put up with peltiers used for 1ghz+ thunderbirds.. unfortunately :)
Anyways, just be careful! :Þ

I thought the default voltage for the 1.2gig T'birds was 1.8 volts. I had to turn mine up to 1.85 (max) to get to 1.5 gig.

Forgot to tell you about the hard drive led. It is called IDELED and it is directly above the other connectors (power switch connector, speaker connector, reset switch connector, etc). Polarity does matter. If it doesn't work one way turn it around.

If you have a 1200 that has a hard time making it to 1400, Doesn't that make the slower, cheaper durons a much better deal? It doesn't get you to the magic 1.4 GHz but what applications require that speed? Most duron 650's see at least 900 and some a whole lot more.

I have a 1200meg Tbird on a kt7a

The thing does not seem to wantto go any faster than 1275 (150x8.5) and remain the least bit stable. The chip is a purple core 1200mhz tbird that I unlocked. It will do 1275 @ 1.80v but 1.85 doesn't do sh*t except make the chip run hotter.

I have access to a ?core Factory Unlocked 1200mhz athlon. Would this be more likely to overclock well? I'd love to be able to hit the 1500mhz that Darrin claims to, and I have the 6ns Kingmax TinyBGA DIMMs to do it with memory wise.

Oh yeah - heatsink is a globalwin FOP32
Core is not lapped, but using arctic silver applied with razor blade after heatsink scrubbed with water, acetone and benzene (in other words, its clean)

thanks

It's the luck of the draw man. Most times I get a crappy chip that will barely do 100MHZ over stock. I just happen to get lucky this time. (It's about damn time too!)

damn.. i think i got a good chip but bad cooling
i got it to work at 9x150 (1350-300mhz effective bus.. wow!).. im gonna post my memory benchhmark now
