Few weeks ago, when I formatted and tried to install winxp/2k/98, it kept freezing during its installation. My HD had few bad sectors so I decided to get a new hd. I just received a new HD and CPU 1700xp but the problem is still there.
I have enermax 350W and it's watercooled (I've even tried with stock cooling) Do you guys think it's my mobo?

1700xp
350W Enermax
Iwill KK266
512mb Micron
Onboard sound
GF3
3com ISA Ethernet

Everything is at default with cleared CMOS. Everything was working fine until one day it went poof!

wait wait... doesn't the Iwill KK266 mobo not work well with Athon XP processors?? I heard this somewhere that this board may not support if not, may cause problems using XP processors. I don't have the evidence of this.. sorry about that. Have you tried updating the BIOS to the lastest one yet? That might work. but don't count on it. Btw, I own an Iwill KK266 mobo but with a T-bird 1.4.

I was in a very similar situation with my old ABIT KT7 mobo. I just ditched it and got myself a cheap (<$60), awesome KT7E. This swap solved the problem, so I think it could be your mobo. Sorry, it really sucks.
