My Comcast cable modem

I've been having connectivity issues for a number of weeks, but that was typically due to my wireless router crashing - resetting the router would always bring my connection back up. As of a few days ago, though, router resets stopped working. Things would revive at random, but I've been down for ~%75 of the time.

I've tried plugging my laptop directly into the modem and still couldn't get anything. I guess I'll be calling Comcast for a replacement modem, but are there any things I should try out before making this dreaded phone call?

Thanks.

You may wanna try getting a small UPS. I was having similar issues for a while. And it seems that minor power fluctuations were ruining my connection.

Interesting, first time I've heard of that.

As for the OP, try connecting your computer strait to the modem for a day.

I know it was weird. I was kinda suprised too at first I thought it was just a fluke but I recently moved modem and router out of the basement to the ground level so my brother could get better Wifi in his room and it was consistently going down every day or two and it wouldn't come back up till i reset the modem. It was connected to a surge protector at this time. So i made him buy a new UPS and now it's working perfectly fine. Our electricity flickers a lot, but it's rarely down for more than a few secs, except for this past thanksgiving it went down for 2 hours.
