Sign up for Gevalia, get a decent coffee maker and a pound of coffee for $15, then cancel after the shipment arrives.

i take my coffee seriously, and my next coffee pot will be a french press. they produce very good coffee, very simple and easy to clean, and there is no electric heating element to wear out.

We've use the Bunn coffeemakers for nearly 20 years. I think we're on our 3rd one in that time. (we still have the other two...one was my mom's and is in the garage, packed in a box, the other one now belongs to our daughter who uses it daily. When we moved into this house 8-1/2 years ago, my wife wanted a white coffeemaker to go with the white tile countertops, so we replaced a perfectly good coffeemaker.)

I strongly recommend using the Bunn coffeefilters if you go this way however, they're stronger and taller than the el cheapo filters and you don't end up with coffee grounds in your cup.

If you drink lots of coffee, and/or are like me in that you want that first cup in the morning in light-speed, then the Bunn is for you. Pour in the water and 3 minutes later you're drinking coffee.

If you make only for yourself get the smallest that you can.

This is a very good one.

Why? Coffee come best if the water is at a certain temperature and the water flow has is times correctly.

The big Coffee Makers raise the temperature and rush it fast so it will not take too long to get 4 or more big cups out.

The small Cuisinart has almost perfect timing and temperature.

Use paper filters not the reusable metal filter.

Gevalia is an example to the most expensive Bad coffee on the planet.

Costco is a good source for good coffee beans at a low price (they even stock Starbucks).

I do half Starbucks Arabica and half Columbian Natural.

Cuisinart makes a good grinder too. Never buy the blade grinder only the real Grinding Rigs.

The best is the 49.99 model. Bed Bath & Beyond has it too.

Grind only as much as you use for one time.

Keep the Beans closed can (do not use Zip Lock bag) put them in the fridge.

Enjoy.

Check out this one

While it is a blade grinder, the design is such that you get a very consisent grind. It makes a good cup of coffee. The biggest draw back is clean up, there are 5 parts to wash. The stainless carafe is nearly worth the price by itself.

Too bad you missed the $3.98 coffee maker from Walmart on B.F. And the $3.98 toaster, the $3.98 food chopper, the $3.98 crock pot, the $3.98 towel set, well, you get the idea.

We had one of the Bunn makers for close to 15 years I would imagine. The only reason we still don't own it is because a short circuit blew it out from the outlet. (The older one looked like this one)

We replaced it a few years ago with a newer Bunn unit, and couldn't be happier. (This is the current one)

Have a nice Cuisinart I bought from Costco several years ago. Pretty basic 12 cup model, but does have a timer and a selection for making less than 6 cups. My gf bought me some 100% Hawaiian Kona from coffeefool.com. Awesome stuff, but expensive.

Ask Descartes, I'm sure he has some excellent reccomendations.

I'm always short of money, so I currently own a Presto, but it's no longer on the market... also 200F water. makes excellent coffee, when it breaks ...

My next machine will be a Technivorm, probably. I actually greatly enjoy drip coffee (for shame, I know). This machine produces at the correct temp 200F and slows the drip for full extraction.

Bunn coffee makers make the best coffee hands down. They brew it quickly at the perfect temperature. My sister and her husband have one and I'm sold on it. Best tasting coffee ever!!!

Go here and get a full pound for $25. I brought back several pounds from my recent trip over there. I grind it and brew it with my reusable Keurig filter. It's worlds better than the crap that comes in those prepackaged pods. A couple teaspoons per cup, and there's never any wasted coffee (my half-pound bag lasted a month).
