I just had that happen to me at work. Instead of hiring someone, they just pushed the responsibilities onto me. Doesn't it make you feel good when instead of raises, you get a "You guys are lucky to be working these days" response? 🙁

well i have a meeting with my boss in 10 minutes. so i guess it will be offical that i now have responsibilty for all the corporate crap.

my 5 year review date is May 2nd so i better get a good raise.

This is the way the economy is recovering. Since the job of 3 people is now done by 2, each person's productivity rate has gone up 50%, thus the company saves money increasing their profits, the employees work extra hard and can't quit because the job market sucks and thus you have a jobless recovery! At some point the productivity gains are going to stop because employees can only work so hard before they break and finally quit!

man

i am gonna give my notice to my boss tommorow
i bet my team mates gonna feel the same way and post on AT 🙁

threaten to quit and demand a raise!

As bitchy as it sounds, this is a fairly good idea, because at this point they can't afford to lose another person, and as you said, it takes too much time to train a new one.
