Dear Santa,

I wish that Creative will drop its EAX and start making A3D sound cards.

I wish that nVidia will drop its GeFarce technology and begin selling Rampage, Fear, Gigapixel cards.

I wish that good technology by bankrupt companies not get buried by the monopolies that buy them out, but rather that the monopolies drop their own lame technologies and begin using the good technologies.

That is all I want for Christmas.

You cant compare the Creative/Aureal situation to the NVidia/ 3dfx one. In this case the company with the superior product won.

That's a matter of opinion. I'm no longer a customer of Nvidia or of 3dfx (nvidfx? 3dvidia?), but have used both often in the past... and I tend to see far more compatibility/driver/2d issues with Nvidia cards. Any way around it, I think it's unfair to describe either product line as across-the-board superior to the other; they each have their strengths (nvidia's fast, 3dfx is incredibly compatible) and their weaknesses (nvidia's 2d is lousy, 3dfx just can't keep up)- and I think the real issue here is the end of competition in the market, which will hurt the consumer no matter which brand is the brand of preference.

He could throw in a nice 21" monitor (flat panel), as well.
