... boxed computer components (CPU, video card, RAM, etc), several bottles of mouthwash, several boxes of Cream of Wheat and misc food products. On a transatlantic flight.

Will all this arrive at my destination intact? Is this the kind of thing that security thinks terrorists take? Just because it's such a bunch of random shit.

It will probably catch someone's eye when it goes through Xray, but after inspecting it they will probably leave it alone. I've flown with PC parts before...and a very expensive satellite receiver anotehr time in my luggage and it got there fine.

You will be placed on the terrorist watch list when you claim it as it contains liquid containers.

I would have shipped all that out. The liquid is probably going to catch their attention more than anything. They'll think it's some kind of explosive liquid and the electronics are part of the bomb's control system that you will just assemble it after you're past security.

You're screwed.

Let's see: $70 for a second checked bag on my flight vs $700 for UPS/Fedex. I think I know which one is the better choice.

You're going to take a bottle of mouth wash on the flight? Get ready for security to pull a rodney king on your head.

Why so much mouthwash? That's the only suspicious thing.

Oral hygiene products generally suck in the UK. There is also a certain hydrogen-peroxide mouthwash that isn't sold anywhere but North America.

hydrogen-peroxide? Looks like the kind of stuff terrorist would bring.

You are definitely going to get the King treatment.

What is the hydrogen peroxide amount? Over 3% and it cannot probably fly. See this FAA Link as to why it is of concern, or this Blog link to see the actual TSA banning, or this Airline link that lists 7% as their cutoff.

I've had no trouble with electronic goods. I personally bring them onboard so I don't have to worry about them. I once had a camera stolen from a checked bag and I'm worried about it now. I tend to bring custom built electronics so they are suspicious. I just say it is a medical device (which is the truth) and they let me carry it on.

Food shouldn't be any problem either.

Is it really $700 to ship that stuff? That seems out of line. $100 is more likely the case, based on my past international shipping of electronics, unless this is a lot of heavy stuff.
