I recently noticed that my x1000 has become stuck at 600MHz and will not bounce back to 1.3Ghz no matter what I do, and I would really appreciate some advice about what to do. For the record, I have made sure that SpeedStep is set to "AUTOMATIC" in the BIOS (as opposed to "DISABLED") and I have set the WinXP power scheme to "Always On" and pumped the CPU to 100% load. Even so, my Pentium-M 1.3GHz will never move from 600MHz. I even downloaded the SpeedSwitchXP utility and set it to "Max Performance" with no effect. What could the problem be? Should I reflash my BIOS? Re-install WinXP?

Thanks,
Aaron

* It appears that I skimmed over the part about speedswitch....

[*]Have you tried to disable speedstep in the bios?
[*]Does this happen on both A/C & while on the battery only?

A long time ago I had to flash my CPx bios for speedstep to work properly.

HI John - thanks for the suggestions, but if you read my post you will notice that I have already downloaded this program and tried it - to no avail.

Well, I got frustrated and decided to just re-flash the BIOS. That seems to have worked as I am cranking along at 1300MHz now. I still don't know why it was stuck before, but who cares now that it's working again!
