My cell phone is MISSING/STOLEN... what should I do?

I recently lost my cell phone at a friends place. There was a big party there, so I suspect that it could have been stolen. When I call it, it goes straight to the voicemail so I suspect it's either still in that house (b/c there's never service there), or the battery is simply dead. What should I do? Because I'm on a year contract (with sprint pcs), they can't terminate my service w/o me having to pay $150, so would my only option be to buy a new phone and have the old one deactivated? Does the phone have to be in a serviced area and powered on for them to be able to deactivate it or do am I forced to get a new phone number all together?

Go tomorrow and see if you can find it.

If not, get a new phone and activate it under that number. Sprint will then deactive the old one.

Two options.

1) Hope there is a good samaritan that will call a number on the cell phone, and tell someone they found a missing phone. Note, chance that they aren't and make numerous expensive calls.

2) Call Sprint and tell them to deactivate/put the phone on hold because you lost it (they can do this any time). You will still be charged your monthly fee, its just put on hold so that no one can use it. Buy a new phone and call em back up... they'll ask for the ESN of the phone, and viola. Done.

yeah, do what he just suggested. I lost my wallet, now thats something thats way harder to replace 🙁 scarrier too knowing that someone had or has my ID. I rather have that in a trash can.
