My CDRW is acting really WEIRD

RICOH CD-R/RW MP7125A. I'm using Nero 5.0.3.0.

I insert a CDRW, erase the contents and back up my data. Everything is great.
20 minutes later, I insert a regular empty CDR and start burning an image file. It ejects the CD and asks for an empty one. I push the CD again, it does nothing. I cancel and repeat the process. Again, I insert the CD, choose the image file and press Burn, like I always did in the last 6 months. It ejects the CD and asks for an empty one. WTF? The CD is empty, I even tried two empty ones.

I remove the CDR and insert a CDRW. Erase it, and try to write something on it. Everything works great.

What the hell is going on?

Maybe it's something screwed with the Nero? Is there any other downloadable burning software so that I can try it?
