my cdrw drive letter disappeared from windows

well it disappeared and it reappeared after i rebooted.

my system rig is in my signature.

anyone know why this might have happend?

i just installed windows xp perfectly without any troubles. except it froze up at the first reboot. a reboot fixed that fine and it worked flawlessly except my cdrw drive disappeared.

If I had to guess, I would say that the freeze-up you saw was caused by either the IDE controller or the CD-RW not initializing properly. I've seen this happen before, usually if there is a CD in the drive, and usually when the system boots rather quickly, like on a restart. Has it happened since that one time?

My CDRW did that for a while until I nuked my flacky scsi card... it is a scsi burner though...
