I have a Memorex 52x24x52x that I bought in January. It has been working fine until about last week. It started hanging at about 11% burn on Nero and finally completing after like 15 minutes. As of yesterday, it doesn't finish burning. It either hangs there infinitely or it gives me an error:
Power Calibration Error.
The cd starts spinning and then stops , starts spining, then it stops..etc...

here are the notes from the error log from Nero.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

P.S. I have read in other forums that the cause might be bad media, but I have tried 5 different types of cd-r's and cd-rw's and the problem is still there. I've also tried burning at less speed but stil nothing.

I was going to guess flaky ribbon cable. you might try swapping and even changing which IDE channel it is conected to just to help narrow it down a bit.

Are you overclocked? If so, try running at stock. If none of these swaps changes things, I'd probably not spend too much more time on it and just do the RMA thingy if it's under warranty.

almost forgot: is the thing hot? maybe it's just overheating and with repeated occurances, getting closer and closer to total failure.

(edit: Did I read this right?
