my CD-Rom's suddenly not working

My computa just got home from the computa hospital 2 weeks ago, everything worked fine, but all of a sudden my cd-rom's not working... whenever i put in a cd (any cd) the light just blinks and blinks and blinks and my comp will hang for a while.... and I can't eject the cd unless I restart the computa. what's up with this? Someone please help me!! I'm determined not to send my machine back to the hospital coz it takes forever to get it back!
 
Unfortunatly that looks to be a dead cdrom. I have had lots of dead cdroms in the past, and thats exactly what they do when they die. 🙁
 
Ditto on the dead drive..
Just happened to my CD Rom and had to replace it.
Went with the ASUS 50X drive. Very quiet and hardly any heat up of the disc. About $50
