My CD Burner won't work with 700meg/80 min CDs

I have an ACER 4x4X32 (dont tell me to get better. I'm a poor kid going to college)

I had Windows 98 CD's and with Nero, my 700 Meg CDs would be recognized and burned.

I installed Windows 2000 and no CD burning app will recognize 700 Meg CD's when I try to burn them. I am primarily using Nero 5.5.

what can I do?

I'm no expert with win 2000 and nero but maybe theres a patch of some sort you could download from NERO..... Or, try another burning program to see if it is in fact your burner's problem. Get Fireburner, nice & free. Try burning some data or music on the 700mb disc.

these are brand new Sony CD's. Memorex and TDK also have not worked.

Fireburner also does not work. it gives the same message as Nero, "no burner in drive"

anything else anyone can think of?

thanks dudes,
James

Make sure you have the latest drivers and burn program for your burner. However some older burners don't support the new large CDs.

win2k doesn't come with an ASPI layer which is necessary for burners.
have you checked to see if you have an ASPI layer which is correctly installed & up to date??
