My cat only has a couple months left to live

I got a call from my parents today and the cat that I'd left behind when I moved out (they wanted to keep him so he wasn't split up from the other cats and I agreed it was best) has cancer. They found a growth a week ago and got the results back from the Vet yesterday. It's highly aggressive and they could remove most of it, but the Vet says they wouldn't be able to get it all and it would just come right back if they tried to remove it. There's nothing they can really do for him.

So we decided to let Isaac have the next few weeks and when it starts to interfere with his quality of life, we're going to put him to sleep. He's only about 5 years old too, but at least he's had a good life, a warm house, big yard, other cats to keep himself entertained.

Isaac, you're a good cat and a great pet. My your last few weeks with us be peaceful and enjoyable for you.

Sorry to hear this. Our pets can become as endearing to us as our kids...(but USUALLY get in less trouble!)

Hopefully it's not lethal, but a feral cat I'm trying to tame has had issues with his stools for the last couple of weeks... this morning I found a lot of tapeworms in his bowl movement this morning :(

:( Sorry to hear that. My 1 year old cat has the heart disease HCM and the doctor says he'll be lucky to make it to 4. We're going to be so sad when he goes. :(

:( I love cats, have two myself.

Where is the cancer? Is it like a large noticeable bump?

Not to threadcrap, but please put him to sleep before he shows any symptoms. One of our cats had HCM (we didn't find out until after she died), and I can tell you: It's not a pretty way to go (and judging from the way she acted, it hurt A LOT).

Right now, on one of his legs. Apparently in the week that it took to get results back it has doubled in size. The Vet's prognosis was less than 4 months before he'd pass on from natural causes. We aren't going to let it go that far because we don't want him to suffer, so when he starts to have discomfort, he's going to be put too sleep. No sense making him suffer, but no sense cutting his time shorter than it has to be either.

Well, I sure hope you take your cat to the vet and take a sample of the worms in some isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to your vet too.

OP sorry to hear about your cat's condition I wish you and your cat the best.

He's got less than ~6months.

I feel for you.

Sad... :(

I've lost a couple of fine kitties in the last few years and a dog to cancer about a year ago.

It's really tough to lose your closest friends who never had any sh*tty thing to say about you and only gave love.

I'm sorry to hear about that man. I remember when my 14 year old cat died a few years ago, its always surprising how attached you get to cats.

My cat has a growth on her stomach.
I've given it time to see if it would go away. It hasn't.

I have Zero money for a vet. Cost of living + education = RAPE.

Grr I don't know what to do :-\

Man this thread is getting me down. I have had my cat since I was 7 ( almost 22 now). He has seen me through the lowest and highest times of my life and I just know its going to kill when he passes on.

Thats rediculous. I'll keep the rest of my comments out of this "grieving" thread.

Sorry to hear about your cat :(

I have two (one is 5yrs old and the other 2yrs old). They just got over a mild cold and it was hard seeing them like that.
