My cat keeps getting it's ass kicked

So I have a very mild mannered cat. About 5 years old. You know the sissy kind of guy cat that doesn't catch any birds or anything, just loafs around sleeping and very people friendly.

Pretty much every night it comes home with bite marks on its ears and face. I'd rather it not get beaten up as it might get an infection from its wounds. Any ideas? I wish I could teach my cat Kung Fo or something.

I would be most concerned about infection or disease. Shots up to date?
